SANFIC, Santiago Festival Internacional de Cine, is a cinematographic, artistic, industrial and educational platform, as well as a privileged symbol of the city and the country.
In the festival’s seventh version – SANFIC7 – producers, directors, film critics and actors converge with audiences and gather around the most recent and important local and international productions, giving Santiago and the country a unique instance full of quality and currency.
The excellent results obtained in SANFIC6 – outstanding attendance, international visitors, quality and novelty in the films shown, wide press coverage, and diverse supplementary activities attended by many – confirmed that SANFIC has become a referent when it comes to local and international cinematography: a window of culture through which Chile peeks and is seen by the world.
In this context, one of the goals is to continue to complement and empower the explosive Chilean audiovisual industry, opening a space for development and promotion. Also, SANFIC7 is a windowpane which allows for viewing of scoops and premieres of prestigious and recent international movies, both from prestigious directors and young talents.
SANFIC7 has two feature film competitions: an international one – which includes movies from the whole world – and a Chilean film competition which features the most recent local productions. Also, there is the second version of the short film competition Talento Nacional. Along with that, there is a complete panorama of international feature films that were recently made, and a Work in Progress for local developing movies.
Parallel activities include panels, expositions, forums and master classes led by important personalities from both the local and international cinematographic worlds, coming from the universes of film, industry, education and culture. There will also be film exhibitions in different neighborhoods of the city and other areas of the country.
